This book is a catalog to Hard Time tokens, issued for and against the United States Bank, together with other pieces created by merchants and moneyers, dated between 1833 and 1844. Each token is listed by a catalog number and has an obverse description, a reverse description, a general description, border type, edge type, metal type and size. Some tokens are illustrated and many are plated in the back. Also included is an appendix with rarity scale and pricing in one to four grades. This work is recognized as one of the first on the subject of Hard Times tokens and as such is a valued reference for the token collector's library. |
